Jonathan Coachman Slams WWE Over R-Truth Release, Says Company Ignored His Value Outside the Ring

The outrage over R-Truth’s WWE exit isn’t dying down—and now, former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman has joined the chorus of voices calling the move a mistake.

While Triple H tried to steer attention toward AAA star El Hijo del Vikingo’s title win ahead of Worlds Collide, the spotlight was yanked away by angry fans—and Coachman didn’t hold back.

Responding to a fan who tweeted, “Business is business but I feel that ever since TKO have taken over WWE, they’re slowly sucking the life out of WWE and hellbent on making a profit at any chance they can,” Coachman fired off a blunt message that called WWE out for losing touch with what really matters.

“I hope they start listening because it’s no longer just a few people saying this. It can’t always be about every dollar you can make. The R Truth situation I know there are other factors in play but if you get rid of a GREAT locker room guy who is universally loved by everyone sometimes it’s worth keeping them.”

Coachman also pointed out how the shift away from house shows has put talents like Truth in an impossible position.

“House shows also used to save guys like Truth but now those don’t exist so if you aren’t a tv performer you better watch out. Sad day for wrestling fans who love to laugh.”

When one user tried to shut down the debate by tweeting, “He’s 55 dude,” Coachman didn’t let it slide. He fired back with a list of ways WWE could’ve still used Truth—even if his in-ring days were numbered.

“1. Agent
2. Wwe ambassador
3. Announcing 1 of their many shows they have.”

He continued, emphasizing that Truth brought value beyond just his in-ring work.

“My point is I know his age and why the easy answers are that. But sometimes you have to understand there are a lot more roles a person can play than just the one you have known all of these. You don’t think sending R Truth to a city ahead of a Raw to promote the event a week or two before wouldn’t have any value?”

Coachman ended on a somber note, summing up the collective mood in one sentence:

“Regardless I have had the same reaction as most others who know him. When you enjoy being around someone it’s a sad day when they are not around.”

Coachman’s comments add weight to what fans have been shouting across social media since the news broke. WWE’s silence on the matter has only deepened the frustration, and as more voices inside and outside the company speak up, it’s becoming clear that R-Truth’s departure hit harder than expected.
