Jackie Redmond has been a backstage interviewer and correspondent for WWE Monday Night RAW since October 2021, but she also part of the NHL broadcast, which is why things can get hectic for her. In fact, Redmond has now revealed the most insane travel turnaround she had to deal with.
While speaking to Front Office Sports, Jackie Redmond talked about her busiest travel stretch during the NHL playoffs while also working with WWE. She said she travels so often and deals with so many hectic situations that sometimes it’s hard to even remember the wildest one.
“I thought about this the other day. It’s so funny—I travel so much and have so many crazy things happen that I almost go blank when people ask me this sometimes.”
The stretch that stood out most happened in the first round of the playoffs. She worked Game 4 between the Oilers and Kings in Edmonton, then immediately took a redeye flight to Kansas City for WWE Raw. After that, she took another redeye to get back to Los Angeles for Game 5 on Tuesday. The following day, she caught the first flight out from L.A. to Ottawa.
Since there are no direct flights from L.A. to Ottawa, she had to connect through Toronto. She left at 6:00 a.m. and didn’t arrive at her hotel until 8:00 p.m. She then worked Game 6 of the Leafs vs. Senators on Friday.
Redmond called that stretch one of the craziest of the entire playoff run, with barely any time to rest. It was nonstop: game day, Raw, game day again, a long day of travel, and then straight into an elimination game.
“But I think right now, the craziest stretch I’ve had since the playoffs started was in the first round. I did Game 4 of Oilers-Kings in Edmonton, Alberta. I took a redeye to Raw in Kansas City. Then I took a redeye again to get to Los Angeles for Tuesday’s Game 5. Then Wednesday, I took the first flight out to get from L.A. to Ottawa.
For those who don’t know, that’s cross-continent and there’s no direct flights, so I had to connect through Toronto. I left at 6:00 a.m. and got to my hotel at 8:00 p.m. Then I did Game 6 of Leafs-Senators on Friday. That was one of the craziest stretches of this playoff run for sure. There was no breathing room. It was Gameday→Raw→Gameday→Massive travel day→elimination game.”
Jackie Redmond’s busy schedule shows how much hard work and energy it takes to do well in both sports broadcasting and sports entertainment. Even with all the travel, little sleep, and hard days, she still manages to do a great job. That’s exactly why really respect her for being able to handle both roles and for showing so much passion for hockey and WWE.
