The Rock teamed up with Roman Reigns to face off against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 Saturday. The Rock had a solid performance in the match but it appears that he has been accused of stealing an idea for a spot in the match.
While speaking to Tom Cambpell, Gallus member Wolfgang talked about what it was like helping The Rock get ready for WrestleMania 40. He said that one morning, he, Mark and Joe Coffey got a message from Matt Bloom telling them to pack their bags because they were flying out to help train The Rock. Their job was to act as the other wrestlers in the match while The Rock practiced.
âWe woke up to a text from Matt Bloom that said, âPack a bag. Youâre flying to train The Rock for WrestleMania.â Myself, Mark, and Joe had to play the roles of the other guys in the match. Thereâs one spot in particular, and Iâm gonna get this story out.â
Wolfgang remembered one spot clearly. It was about a move where Cody Rhodes would hit the Rock Bottom on The Rock through a table. The Rock was trying to figure out how to move from one side of the table to the other without it looking awkward. He joked that he didnât want to do a silly âdo-si-doâ spin to make it work.
Wolfgang gave him an idea: if The Rock stood on one side and acted like he was going one way, he could grab CodyRhodes and quickly switch to the other side to do the move smoothly.
The Rock liked the idea and repeated it out loud almost exactly how Wolfgang said it. Then he said that now it would look like it was his idea since he said it on camera, thus stealing it. Wolfgang said his small contribution to the WrestleMania main event was helping The Rock avoid doing a goofy move on the table.
âTake you back to the Rock Bottom through the table spot. Youâve got Rock and Cody standing here, and heâs trying to figure out how he can go from this one to this one. And he says, âI donât wanna have to do-si-do on the table to go through that one.â So I say, âIf youâre standing on this one, donât pretend youâre going that way. The Rock stands here, grabs him as if heâs going there, but in reality, heâs just going to switch.â
I explained that, and then Rockâthe big cheeky bastardârepeated exactly what I said and he went, âYeah, but now Iâve got it on camera with me saying it, so it looks like my idea.â That was my input into the WrestleMania main eventâstopping The Rock from doing a little silly do-si-do!â
The Rock event sent Gallus a special gift for helping him train for his in-ring return. Regardless, The Rock ultimately took credit for something that wasnât his idea in the first place and many fans might not be shocked by this in the end.
