Brie Bella Jumped Into Pool Fully Clothed to Save Her Son After Deep End Scare

Brie Bella’s relaxing Sunday by the pool turned into a terrifying moment no parent ever wants to experience.

During the latest episode of The Nikki and Brie Show – Roasting and Toasting, the former WWE Superstar shared how she leapt into action to rescue her son Buddy from a potentially dangerous situation—while still in full clothes, hair blowout and all. Brie explained that she had every intention of staying dry that day.

“So Sunday, I still had my really great blowout. It looked super good. So, we go to the pool… and I told the kids literally before we left the house, ‘Mommy’s not going to wear her swimsuit. I just don’t feel like swimming really. I didn’t want to ruin my blowout.’ I’m like, ‘This blowout can go for a couple more days.’”

But that plan went out the window when an older child threw a toy into the deep end and jokingly told Buddy to “fetch.” Without hesitation, Buddy jumped in—even though he wasn’t ready to swim.

“We go to the pool… and literally, this older kid throws something in the deep end and goes to Buddy and says, ‘Fetch.’ And what does Buddy do? Fetch. Sprint and jumps into the deep end.”

“I watch the whole thing, and I’m like, is he gonna swim? Did he get the confidence to swim or something? Nope. And then Birdie’s like, ‘He’s drowning!’ So dramatic. So I sprint and jump into the deep end. Blowout and all. I mean, clothes, everything.”

Brie said she was mid-conversation with a group of adults when her instincts took over.

“I was in the middle of a conversation with five adults… and I just sprint. And then I grab him, and we come up—and Buddy’s wearing Birdie’s goggles. They’re these humongous pink glittery sparkly goggles—and he’s like [mimics crying face] all upset. Which he should be.”

“And I go, ‘Buddy, just because someone tells you to fetch doesn’t mean you go!’”

The moment shook Brie enough to end the segment with a pool safety PSA for parents.

“You get so scared now with what they call dry drowning. You know what I mean? But good thing I was on it.”

“Summertime, everyone. If you have pools, make sure gates are locked. You know, we always say, ‘We don’t need the reminder,’ but we do. If you’re at a pool party—even if it’s just family—there should be two adults watching the kids at all times. It doesn’t matter if everyone’s inside. Doors should be locked. Set timers. Just do it.”

“It’s crazy how quick that stuff can happen. So terrifying.”

It was a scary reminder that poolside distractions can turn serious in a matter of seconds. Brie’s mom instincts—and quick reaction—made all the difference.
