Jey Uso’s WWE Status in Question After RAW Loss to GUNTHER

Jey Uso’s dream run as WWE World Heavyweight Champion ended on the June 9 edition of RAW, but questions about his future in WWE are only growing louder.

In the main event from PHX Arena in Phoenix, GUNTHER made Uso pass out with a brutal sleeper hold to reclaim the title. The match marked the end of Jey’s reign that began at WrestleMania 41, when he dethroned GUNTHER after winning the Royal Rumble. But what followed after the show went off the air is raising more eyebrows than the loss itself.

Instead of heading backstage, Jey remained in the ring and addressed the live crowd with his youngest son by his side. The speech, while filled with heart, felt like a potential farewell—or at least a moment of pause.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is my youngest son. I’m so happy. I brought him on the road with me this weekend… Even though I lost, I’m so glad he was here with me. I really want to say I’m sorry to my son. I’m sorry to everybody here. I fought my ass off. GUNTHER is that dude, one of the best athletes, one of the best pros I ever stepped foot in the ring with… I got a hell of respect for that man. I’m going to give it up for GUNTHER. But I’m going to run it back. I’m going to run it back.”

Jey went on to show love to Phoenix and delivered a raw message to families and kids in the crowd.

“Phoenix, y’all are lit… I wish everyone could experience what we get to experience back there, like walking through these curtains. I’m very, very blessed, man. I stay humble in front of you all. I love what I do. I don’t ever take this for granted, all right? I love all of you. Parents, appreciate you all’s hard work spending money to bring your loved ones to a show. Kids, real talk. Tell your parents you love them, right? Listen to them. Something simple as picking up after yourself means a lot, all right? You feel me? Say your prayers. Watch your ass when it’s bedtime. Don’t get no attitude. Brush your teeth. You know what I’m saying? Real talk. Love you all. One time for the one time. Four letters.”

Despite the heartfelt address and promise to “run it back,” Jey Uso’s WWE status remains murky. Former WWE employee Tommy Carlucci recently weighed in on Behind The Turnbuckle, speculating that Jey could be taking a break due to nagging injuries.

“I actually like GUNTHER right now. I think Jey’s probably taking a little time off with these injuries, so-called injuries that he’s had. So maybe he’s going to do that. We will see.”

Adding to the confusion, there are online claims referencing PWInsider that Jey’s time off has been long planned. However, no such report exists on their actual website. That absence casts serious doubt on the legitimacy of that rumor.

Meanwhile, Ringside News confirmed Jey is still being advertised for upcoming events. He’s currently listed as a featured star for the June 16 WWE live event at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin—a detail that doesn’t match the narrative of him stepping away immediately.

So, which version is true? Is WWE covering up an absence? Is this a planned storyline cooldown? Or is Jey Uso still very much in the mix, just temporarily out of the title picture? For now, WWE hasn’t made anything official—and until they do, Jey Uso’s status remains a mystery.
