WWE is currently in the middle of the 2025 King of the Ring tournament, which is set to culminate at Night of Champions, where the eventual winner will earn a World title shot at SummerSlam. With a lot on the line in this tournament, there is pressure on each match, and WWE has stacked the lineup to feature some of its biggest stars on Raw and SmackDown.

Next week on Raw, there will be another quarter-final stage fatal four-way match, but only three wrestlers have been confirmed. Rusev, Sheamus, and Bronson Reed will all be part of what promises to be a heavy-hitting match, but the fourth wrestler will be a surprise. While there are plenty of great options available to WWE, I have a few ideas about who would be the logical choice to fill the gap.

Joe Hendry

The Former TNA Champion Is One Of The Most Popular Stars In Wrestling

• WWE has a great working relationship with TNA.
• Hendry was in the Royal Rumble and faced Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41.
• Triple H is clearly a fan of Joe Hendry.

Joe Hendry might not be contracted to WWE, but that doesn’t mean he can’t participate in the King of the Ring tournament. WWE has a great working relationship with TNA at this point, and featuring one of their top stars in a prominent tournament such as this would only help to strengthen that.

Hendry has already had big opportunities in WWE, from competing in the 2025 Royal Rumble to facing Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41. Therefore, the WWE Universe knows who he is and would respond accordingly, meaning he wouldn’t be a disappointing reveal.

Triple H is clearly a fan of Hendry, which is why he keeps being handed opportunities in WWE. Exposing him to the world of WWE even more wouldn’t be a bad thing if WWE does intend on signing him down the line.

Ricky Saints

The NXT Star Is Destined For A Main Roster Move Soon

• Saints is already a big star in WWE NXT.
• He isn’t expected to be in NXT for a long period.
• Saints is charismatic enough to be a hit on the main roster.

An interesting option that WWE could consider is former AEW star, Ricky Saints. He has been working for NXT sinc​​​​​​​e joining the company, but given his star power and talent, it’s hard to believe he will be part of that roster for a long time. Saints is a fan favorite, and he proved in AEW that he’s capable of being an entertaining part of the main roster.

Saints is believed to be on a bigger deal than the usual NXT contract, so the company will be eager to push him forward, and this would be an ideal opportunity to do that. Giving him the chance to come out on top against three of WWE’s most physical performers would certainly get everyone talking about him.

Many WWE fans have been patiently waiting for the Absolute star to make his presence known on the main roster, and getting him on the show in time for a feature spot at SummerSlam would be a sensible way to do it.

Mr. Iguana

This Would Be A Fun Surprise To Promote AAA

• Mr. Iguana was a big hit on Worlds Collide.
• He appeared at Money in the Bank and had a vignette on Raw.
• WWE acquired AAA and is able to use their wrestlers.

During Money in the Bank weekend, fans were able to get their first proper looks at the AAA roster on the Worlds Collide event, and it was Mr. Iguana who stole the show. He was talked about so much that WWE had him appear later on at the main roster premium live event, and a vignette was then shown on Raw.

WWE is obviously aware of how popular he is at the moment, and if they want to make the most of that, they’d have him appear as a surprise in the King of the Ring tournament. The company acquired AAA, so fans need to be prepared for their wrestlers to appear on WWE television.

Mr. Iguana wouldn’t need to win the fatal four-way match, but simply having him involved would be an example of WWE making the most of his character while it’s hot. This would then aid WWE with their long-term plans for Mr. Iguana moving forward.

Ilja Dragunov

WWE Fans Are Eagerly Awaiting His Return From Injury

• Dragunov was getting over with WWE fans before he got hurt.

Ilja Dragunov, who is currently on the shelf, is another possible option for a wrestler who could be part of this King of the Ring match. The former NXT Superstar has been out of action for eight months after tearing his ACL, but if he has been medically cleared, he’d be a great choice as a surprise participant.

He had increasing momentum on the main roster before getting hurt, and having him back on the roster would greatly benefit the overall show. Dragunov is an intense wrestler with lots of charisma, and that’s the type of talent that WWE will always want around.

The announced participants for this particular match are very aggressive, physical wrestlers, and few would be taken seriously against them. However, Dragunov’s passion in the ring would remind fans that he’s believable against anybody.
