Jey Uso is no longer the World Heavyweight Champion, dropping the gold back to Gunther on the June 9 episode of Monday Night RAW in a shocking result, bringing his title reign to an end after just 51 days. Uso’s reign wasn’t exactly setting the world alight, and it left many fans a little disappointed. There will also be some who are not quite satisfied with Uso losing, as the potential for his reign was not reached or even given a good chance to succeed. All this being said, Jey Uso’s loss could have many benefits, and one of those could come the way of WWE’s most overlooked, struggling, and poorly booked division – the RAW tag team division.
The RAW Tag Team Division Has Struggled Under Triple H
The SmackDown Tag Division Has Blown It Out The Water
- Tag teams have struggled after the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles were split up.
- Awesome Truth, Judgment Day, War Raiders, and New Day have all failed.
- The Usos are one of the best tag teams in WWE history.
Many aspects of WWE programming have improved ever since Triple H took control of WWE, but one division has arguably struggled more than every other – the RAW tag team division. Especially since the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles were split back up, the World Tag Team Title scene has lacked a great deal. The Awesome Truth had a lackluster reign, the titles became irrelevant under the Judgment Day, the War Raiders had an uninteresting reign, and The New Day have continue to not be presented like the legendary team that they are as champions.

“Biggest Hypocrite Ever” Why Some WWE Fans Are Furious Over CM Punk Vs. John Cena At Night Of Champions
After trashing WWE’s relationship with Saudi Arabia before he returned to the company, CM Punk now has a title shot against John Cena in Riyadh.
Despite the SmackDown tag team division featuring depth, stories, and show-stealing matches, this hasn’t been reflected over on RAW. There hasn’t been a clear sign of change, but we could very well begin to see the cogs turning on a positive change for the division, and this comes with the World Heavyweight Championship loss of Jey Uso. Jimmy and Jey Uso are one of WWE’s most decorated and popular teams in history, and it may very well be time for a reunion, and an injection of life back into the RAW tag team division.

WWE Has Teased A Renewed Feud Between The Usos And The New Day
The New Day Mocked Jey Uso’s World Title Loss
- WWE posted a video online of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods making fun of Jey Uso.
- Jey Uso was not a fan of Big E being kicked out of the New Day.
- Jimmy Uso hasn’t been doing much as a singles wrestler.
Shortly following Jey Uso’s loss to Gunther and dropping the World Heavyweight Championship, Xavier Woods posted a video to his social media which saw Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of The New Day mock Jey Uso for his loss. Despite the previous respect between the two teams built from their many battles over the years, Jey Uso has not seen eye to eye with the pairing ever since they turned heel and betrayed Big E, kicking out their friend from the group.

Ron Killings Just Showed Why He’s The Man To Beat John Cena For The WWE Championship
If WWE wants to create an emotional and unforgettable moment, giving Ron Killings a run with the gold is the way to do it.
Although this could just be another example of WWE making The New Day massively unlikable, it feels like this was no accident, and it may actually be leading to something much more between The New Day and Jey Uso. At the present time, Jimmy Uso just so happens to not be doing much in the singles division, plus The New Day have outlasted most of the best teams on RAW right now too. All the stars are aligning for a renewed feud between these teams, and it could save the division.
This Historic Feud & Jey Uso’s Star Power Can Save The Tag Division
Jey Uso Is Now Free To Revive A Classic Rivalry
- The New Day vs. The Usos is one of WWE’s best ever tag feuds.
- Jey Uso can add some serious star power to the tag team division.
- WWE could build an extended multi-match feud.
Jey Uso’s run in the main event scene has elevated his star power by a huge amount, to the point where he is one of the most over stars in WWE today. Although the tag team division might seem like a step down, his popularity also serves as a way to save this division and make fans care. Not only that, but The Usos and The New Day have a track record of stealing the show and putting on classics, so if WWE lets them have a multi-match series and go all out, fans will care about tag team wrestling on RAW once again.
