Britt Baker’s Future in AEW Unclear as WWE Talk Goes Undenied

Britt Baker’s AEW future has fans talking, and the latest update only adds more fuel to the fire. Despite conflicting reports, one thing is clear — no one inside AEW is flat-out denying the idea that Baker could be WWE-bound.

It all started when Jonathan Coachman, better known as Coach, casually mentioned on his podcast that Baker “wants to get to WWE.” That simple statement has kept the rumor mill spinning for weeks, especially with Baker’s ongoing absence from AEW television.

Now, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer is weighing in — and while he didn’t confirm Baker is leaving, he admitted that no one has shut the door on the possibility either.

The conversation came up when Bryan Alvarez asked for an update on Baker during the July 3rd edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. “Britt Baker. What do you hear?” Alvarez asked. Meltzer replied with some careful wording that only stoked the speculation further.

“I have heard there’s absolutely no change in anything. So yeah, it seems for weeks there have been stories about Britt and it’s actually, I think, all Coach’s fault. Didn’t Coach on his podcast say she’s on his way to WWE? She’s on his, she’s on his way. She wanted to get to go to WWE.”

Bryan tried to clarify, but Meltzer wasn’t done.

“I’ve heard nobody… I mean, nobody’s denied that to me, but nobody’s said anything of any note. I know people in AEW don’t think there’s anything to that, but we’ll see. I mean, I don’t, I don’t know.”

Meltzer added that Baker still has time left on her AEW deal and there’s been no real movement on her returning to TV or leaving the company entirely. But the fact that no one has firmly shut the door is keeping the WWE rumors alive.

Baker has been absent from AEW programming since November 2024. While she was originally set to face Serena Deeb, that match never happened, and vague social media posts about self-worth only added to the speculation. AEW sources have admitted she’s been open to returning, but something has kept the process stalled — though no one’s saying exactly what.

At the end of the day, Britt Baker’s future is anybody’s guess — and with no one shutting down the WWE rumors, the speculation isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Whether she stays in AEW or makes that jump to WWE, it’s clear the wrestling world isn’t done talking about Britt Baker just yet.
