MJF Says WWE’s Attempt to Stomp Out AEW Is “Smart Business Practice”

AEW has been going head-to-head with WWE for several years, and lately WWE has started scheduling events on the same days as AEW shows. Some fans think this isn’t really needed, but MJF has now made it clear that he believes it’s a smart business practice.

While speaking to TV Insider, MJF was asked if WWE running events at the same time as AEW makes him feel like he has an even bigger chip on his shoulder. MJF responded by pointing out that these shows are taking place at the exact same time as AEW, even though WWE says AEW isn’t their competition.

As for how he feels about it, he actually thinks it’s a smart business move and gives credit to Nick Khan and Triple H for doing it. In his eyes, if you can stomp out your competition, you’re just doing what needs to be done and he admitted he would do the same thing.

“You mean shows that are running at the exact same time as us, even though they claim we’re not competition? How do I feel about it? I think it’s a smart business practice. I give jolly old St. Nick and Trips a whole lot of credit. At the end of the day, if you can stomp out your competition, you’re doing what is necessary. Lord knows I would.”

The Salt of the Earth said people judge WWE for running against AEW, but he thinks that’s silly. Fans shouldn’t be naive; none of this is just by accident and it’s all planned.

Unlike others who might dance around the truth, MJF said he’s not going to pretend it isn’t happening or deny that it’s a really clever tactic. He made it clear he’d gladly step on anyone’s neck to get ahead, and he’s done it plenty of times in his career.

“Everyone is judging them for it. I think that’s silly. Don’t judge them for it, but also, don’t be stupid. They’re not doing this by happenstance. This isn’t circumstantial. None of it is. The difference between me and everyone else is even though I know that, I’m not going to pretend that is not the truth or going to stand here and pretend that’s not an incredibly intelligent thing to do. I would stomp on anyone’s neck if it meant I would get ahead. I’ve done it a million times in my career. That’s my thoughts on that.”

This comes after WWE scheduled Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12, which is the same day as AEW’s All In: Texas at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Regardless, MJF clearly thinks what WWE is doing is smart on their part and completely understands why they’re doing it.
