2025 has been yet another wild year for WWE thus far, with some big surprises taking place, major twists during the Road To WrestleMania, and several title changes that fans have come unglued for. However, things have not all been perfect from a creative standpoint, and Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque has made some baffling turns throughout the opening few months of the year.

While these WWE wrestlers failed with Vince McMahon as the head of creative, Triple H would have made them stars.
Whether it be bad title reigns, the wrong choice in winner, storylines that were dropped quickly, nonsensical storytelling beats, or more, the following creative decisions have been very confusing and, at times, plain bad.

Shinsuke Nakamura Stalking Opponents
Nakamura’s United States Title Reign Was Awful
- Nakamura carried the US Title for months
- He had no notable title defenses
- He spent time stalking wrestlers rather than wrestling
At the turn of the year, Shinsuke Nakamura was the reigning United States Champion, embarking on what many have regarded as one of the worst title reigns of the Triple H era. It was baffling enough that Triple H kept the gold on him for so long, but even more baffling was his booking.
Nakamura lurked in corridors, watchung wrestlers from afar instead of defending his title and having actual feuds. Thankfully, LA Knight won back the gold and ended this awful run.

Charlotte Flair Returning As A Babyface
WWE Misjudged The Reaction To Flair
- Fans had become tired of Charlotte Flair being thrust into the main event
- She won the Royal Rumble in her first match back
- WWE wrongly tried to book her as a babyface
Any time Charlotte Flair comes back, she gets thrown into the title picture. Fans were hoping that wouldn’t be the case yet again in 2025, but her return at the Royal Rumble saw her win the match for a second time, securing a match at WrestleMania. She came out cutting a babyface promo, but as ever with Flair as a good guy, fans rejected her.
WWE quickly changed course and Flair became a heel, but it was baffling that WWE thought pushing her hard as soon as she came back would make fans cheer.

Solo Sikoa Returning To Attack Cody Rhodes
WWE Didn’t Really Follow This Up
- Sikoa was absent from WWE for a month
- He came to back to attack Cody Rhodes
- Rhodes & Sikoa didn’t continue their feud
In 2024, Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa spent months in an unpopular rivalry, but it finally wrapped up at SummerSlam. In February of 2025, Sikoa returned after a month’s absence to attack Rhodes, much to the chagrin of fans.
However, there was essentially no follow up to this as Sikoa didn’t continue feuding with Rhodes. It was a strange choice for WWE to have Sikoa return in this manner, especially since there was clearly no plan in place.

The Rock’s Netflix Premiere Appearance
The Rock Undid A Year Of Storytelling
- At RAW’s Netflix Premiere, The Rock returned
- His issues with Cody Rhodes seemed to be over
- He was a babyface in a strange segment
The Rock made an anticipated return at RAW’s Netflix debut, but instead of the next steps in his story with Cody Rhodes, it was all dropped as he shared jokes with Rhodes and played the role of a babyface.

These overused WWE storytelling tropes have fans rolling their eyes instead of cheering.
WWE would retcon this and make it part of the story upon The Rock’s next return, but it doesn’t take away from how weird and baffling his appearance here was.

Continuing The Grayson Waller & Austin Theory Story
Their Breakup Feels Like It Will Never Happen
- WWE remembered suddenly about Waller & Theory
- They went to NXT and had more issues
- WWE will not pull the trigger on a breakup
WWE evidently had very little plan for Grayson Waller & Austin Theory and their storyline, with WWE teasing their breakup for a year at this point. It was dropped out of nowhere but then was picked up again in 2025, but fans no longer care.
Things were actually heating up well last year before WWE decided to cut the legs off the storyline, so returning to it with less heat has been a baffling call. They took a trip down to NXT to challenge for the NXT Title, but this only robbed spots from a men’s NXT division that has been desperate for new names to step up.

WWE’s Women’s Midcard Champions Not Getting TV Time
A Slow Start To The Women’s Midcard Scene
- Chelsea Green has been stuck in a never-ending rivalry
- Lyra Valkyria has struggled for much TV time
- Both women have been booked weaker than expected
Chelsea Green and Lyra Valkyria were both brilliant choices for the inaugural United States and Intercontinental Champions, but their booking has left a lot to be desired. Green has been in a repetitive feud with Michin, looking weak in the process, and WWE took weeks on end to give Valkyria some TV time.
Snubbing the Intercontinental Title match from RAW’s Netflix Premiere was a red flag, but even worse was when Valkyria lost clean when trying to qualify for the Elimination Chamber.
4
The RAW Tag Team Division’s Entire Booking
The Worst Division In WWE
- The SmackDown tag team division gets more time
- War Raiders have had a bland reign
- The division on RAW is so bad
The RAW tag team division has not seen proper feud for months, and the champions have felt like complete non-factors. War Raiders don’t really have a defined character, their defenses have come few and far between, and the depth of the division is non-existent.
It is baffling that WWE has been investing time and effort into the men’s division on SmackDown and the women’s tag division, but not RAW.
3
Pete Dunne Obsessed With Not Being Called Butch
Dunne’s Booking Has Been Poor
- Dunne hasn’t had any luck in 2025
- He has been treated as a comedy character
- Reminding fans of Butch is a weird booking call
WWE fans did not like the name and gimmick of Butch, so to continue reminding everyone that Pete Dunne spent a lengthy time as this terrible character is not the best way to get him over.
Dunne has looked foolish in his obsession at not being called Butch, looking immature and easily annoyed when the likes of R-Truth have been a nuisance. Dunne being painted as a comedic character has been a complete misfire.
2
Drew McIntyre Not Involved In A Big WrestleMania Program
McIntyre’s Booking Is Baffling
- McIntyre has been one of WWE’s biggest stars for the last year
- He should be in a major WrestleMania program
- A feud with Damian Priest has excited no one
With all respect to Damian Priest, he is not the level of opponent Drew McIntyre should have at WrestleMania. McIntyre has been amongst the likes of CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns when it comes to quality over the last year, and he should be facing a fellow big name at WrestleMania 41.

No Wyatt Sicks
WWE Have Sucked The Momentum From This Faction
- The Wyatt Sicks started off well in 2024
- They were booked weaker against The Final Testament
- They have been absent in 2025
For what is seemingly for no reason other than there being no creative plans for them, The Wyatt Sicks have been absent from WWE in 2025.
The act was super over and impressed in their two feuds, but WWE have decided to give them no real follow up, taking them off TV in a baffling call considering their potential to be something special.
