Tonight is the last episode of WWE Smackdown before Backlash which is taking place this Saturday. The card is coming in with a bit of a muted reaction from fans, but the anticipated main event should get one final jolt of energy from its performers tonight. Letâs dive into the preview.

If you plan on betting any money on Backlash matches this weekend, hereâs everything you need to know.
John Cena Will Appear On The Show
Last time John Cena and Randy Orton shared a ring on WWE Smackdown, Cena tried to land a cheap shot on Orton after threatening to erase his familyâs legacy from WWE. He closed the segment however with his back on the mat after receiving an RKO.
Orton promised the next week to punt Cenaâs head at Backlash, but if Cenaâs character is anything to go by he will likely cut a very bitter promo tonight where he tries to discredit the threat of The Viper at Backlash. Cena actually does have a positive win-loss record of 13-7-1 against Orton, so he may lean into that for his promo as well.
Jade Cargill Vs. Nia Jax: Number One Contenderâs Match For WWE Womenâs Championship
Prediction: Nia Jax Will Face Tiffany Stratton Next
In recent weeks, Nia Jax and Jade Cargill have both been laying claims that they should be the next contender for Tiffany Strattonâs WWE Womenâs Championship. Cargill and Stratton were actually victorious against Jax and Naomi last week, but Cargill and Stratton had a tense staredown after Cargill picked up the championship.

But despite the tease, Cargill winning tonight just doesnât seem to be in the cards. Naomi and Cargill have unfinished business, so it seems that Naomi will interfere in tonightâs match to ensure that Jax picks up the win.
LA Knight & Damian Priest Vs. Jacob Fatu & Solo Sikoa
Prediction: Knight & Priest Will Work Better Together Than Fatu & Sikoa
Since winning the United States Championship at WrestleMania 41, Jacob Fatu has had to fend off challenges from multiple wrestlers. Namely, Damian Priest, Drew McIntyre and former champion LA Knight all feel they have a claim to the US Title.
Solo Sikoa since losing the Ula Fala to Roman Reigns back in January seems to have settled into a support role for his cousin Jacob Fatu. A lot of time though, it seems that Sikoaâs âhelpâ ends up blowing up in his face. It should be no different tonight as I expect Knight and Priest to put their differences aside long enough to get a pin over Sikoa and Fatu.
How To Watch WWE Smackdown Today
- For American viewers, WWE Smackdown starts at 8 PM EST on the USA Network.
- For International viewers, WWE Smackdown airs live at 8 PM EST.
Every WWE show moved networks in the past year. NXT was a big success for the USA Network on Tuesday nights, but they made the switch to the CW, which brought a new look to the developmental show.
In 2019, SmackDown made its own big move, going from cable to network TV on FOX. This led to a huge increase in ratings, thanks in part as well to The Bloodline story, but with FOX not getting the ad revenue they hoped for, they let the Friday night show go. On September 13 2024, it went back to the USA Network.
