Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux were one of WWE NXT’s most iconic duos—but when Kross made his main roster debut in 2021, fans were left confused by Scarlett’s absence. Now, Kross is clearing the air with new details from his May 21, 2025 interview on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.
When asked point blank why his wife Scarlett wasn’t by his side at the time, Kross didn’t shy away from the truth.
“So someone who’s no longer with the company had asked her to get in the ring and move around on like a dark match. When we were still in lockdowns, you know, we were doing shows where nobody was there. She got in the ring relatively quickly and wound up getting injured. And so she was in post recovery of that.”
What followed was a chaotic string of mixed messages from WWE’s creative team. Kross explained he was told one thing one day and another the next.
“I was also told one minute that we were going to be together and then I was told the next that we weren’t. And then I was also told that she was going to be brought up to main roster and not to worry about it—just to get on TV and she’ll join after.”
Despite that, Kross didn’t want to proceed without Scarlett. He emphasized the importance of their partnership and his loyalty to her both personally and professionally.
“I was entirely opposed in the beginning to going out there without her because, I don’t know, just out of like, human loyalty. Like we’re, you know, we have an act together. You know, I don’t want her to feel a particular way about, you know, me going out.”
Still, Scarlett gave him her full support behind the scenes.
“But we talked about it and she understood, you know what I mean? She’s just like, ‘This is for us. It’s for a household. You know, I’ll catch up when I get the green light to come back.’”
Their reunion was promised, then denied again, leaving both Kross and Scarlett in limbo as WWE’s direction changed—driven by people who, as Kross notes, are no longer with the company.
“We were just kind of under an assumption that we were going to be grouped back together. And then we were told we weren’t. That time was all very weird. But I will say those people I was dealing with at the time, just to reiterate it, they’re not with the company anymore.”
Kross’ honesty pulls back the curtain on a chaotic time in WWE’s creative structure, offering insight into how fast decisions can change—even when it affects real-life relationships and careers.
