Ex-WWE Star Elektra Lopez Calls Out Fans for Aggressive Behavior at Airports

Karissa Rivera, formerly known as Elektra Lopez in WWE, didn’t hold back during her Fan’s View podcast appearance when discussing the less glamorous side of pro wrestling — specifically the uncomfortable reality of being approached by fans at airports.

The former NXT star made it clear that while she appreciates supporters, some cross the line in a way that’s not just annoying — but unsettling, especially for women traveling alone.

While talking about her WWE travel schedule, Rivera opened up about how exhausting flights and travel delays made some fan interactions harder to deal with, particularly when boundaries weren’t respected.

“So, you know, fans at the airport—okay, that’s fine. But sometimes when you’re getting off a long flight, with layovers or cancellations where you have to sleep overnight in a city and get on the first flight in the morning—it’s a whole thing. And sometimes fans need to respect that.”

As a woman in the industry, Rivera admitted she had more to worry about than just fatigue and jet lag. She recalled times when male fans would rush up to her in parking lots or outside airport terminals, putting her in uncomfortable and even frightening situations.

“Especially as a woman… I’ve had a few times where I get my bags or I’m just walking to my car, and fans just run up on you. Even though I could handle myself, there’s a respect factor. All of us superstars love and respect the fans—we wouldn’t be where we are without you. But again, you need to have respect for us. There are boundaries.”

She didn’t sugarcoat the danger involved, either. Even though pro wrestlers might appear larger-than-life on television, Rivera reminded fans that real-world fear can hit fast.

“At the end of the day, we’re people too. If someone’s running up to me, I don’t know who you are. You could be a mass killer trying to kidnap me or something. That’s not cool.”

Still, she was quick to point out that respectful interactions are welcomed — and usually reciprocated.

“But if you approach me in a respectful way—even if I look like shit—I might put on some glasses and still take a picture and sign your stuff. But if you come running at me, being aggressive, with eight boxes of the same 8×10? That’s a different story. That’s taking my whatever… that’s different.”

Karissa Rivera didn’t name names or throw anyone under the bus, but she made it clear: supporting a wrestler doesn’t entitle you to disregard personal space. In a world where performers give so much of themselves, all she’s asking for in return is a little common courtesy.
